BREMER COUNTY (KWWL) - A Sumner woman is out of jail Friday night after authorities say she allegedly stole more than $164,000 from a friend.

Thirty-four-year-old Mindy Riley is being charged with 15 counts of theft and forgery.

Criminal complaints show checks were written and forged from her friend's farm account and deposited into both Riley and her husband's accounts.

The Bremer County sheriff's office says, although the husband's accounts received some of the money, he is not considered an accessory to the crimes and is not a suspect in the investigation.

Authorities say the victim's personal banker contacted the victim after noticing the large sums of money being taken.

The sheriff also tells us the victim reportedly loaned Mindy Riley money in the past.
