Friends of Hartman to host Under the Harvest Moon event

Posted: Updated:
On November 7th the Friends of Hartman Reserve will host its 19th annual Under the Harvest Moon benefit dinner and auction at the Rotary Reserve Lodge in Cedar Falls.

All donations and proceeds from the event will support environmental education programming for all ages and stewardship of Hartman's natural resources.

Reservations are accepted October 2-27 or until seats sell out.

The dinner costs $45 per guest or $320 for a party of eight guests.

Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with wine and beer tasting by Darren Winkowitsch and Broad Street Brewery, appetizers, and live music by The Enablers.

The main course of dinner will feature roasted hog prepared by Carl Blake of Rustik Rooster Farms, a local farmer who has gained national attention for his unique breed of hogs and outstanding product.

Coffee and dessert will be donated by Cup of Joe and Scratch Cupcakery.

Hollen Family Wines will be among those donating wine for the meal.

The evening will include both live and silent auctions with contributions and hand-crafted items from area artists and communities.

Rustic Rooster has donated a hog roast to be auctioned, which can be used for a future family reunion, graduation, or event of your choice.

The live auction will also feature an original artwork donated by 2014 Hartman Artist-in-Residence, Sarah Etringer.

All purchases at the auctions are tax-deductible. Donations and sponsorships for the event will be accepted through October 15th.
