Unattended bag prompts partial evacuation at Chicago's O'Hare Airport

CHICAGO (KWWL) - (NBC) A portion of Terminal 1 at O'Hare International Airport was evacuated Wednesday morning because of an unattended bag, police said.The upper level of the terminal was evacuated after police received a call at 9:30 a.m. Part of the terminal roadway was closed, and transit service to the terminal was suspended.

"Transportation Security Administration personnel at O'Hare International Airport discovered an unattended item located in Terminal 1," the TSA said in a statement. "To ensure the safety of the traveling public, the terminal was immediately evacuated. Local law enforcement responded and are currently working to clear the item."

The section of the airport remained closed as police and a bomb squad investigated.
