Iowa history comes alive this weekend at Rendezvous Days

Iowa history will come to life this weekend in Fort Atkinson.

Approximately 1,000 area students attend the Rendezvous Days' “School Day” on Friday, and the public is invited out for the festivities on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the city's website, Fort Atkinson is the home of the first permanent settlement outside the the Fort Atkinson Military Post. The settlement was built in the late 1840's.

On Friday, students will learn how the pioneers and Native Americans cooked, made rope, jewelry and other goods.
