DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

For its ninth consecutive year, the city of Dubuque has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, which is given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

According to the GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement by the city and reflects the commitment by the city and its staff members to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting.

To receive the award, Dubuque had to satisfy nationally recognized criteria for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well the budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. In order to win the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all the aforementioned categories.

Dubuque's budget director Jennifer Larson and senior budget analyst Mary Brooks received the award's Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association that services more than 18,000 government finance professionals throughout North America.
