ATLANTIC (KWWL) -

A mother accused of making up an illness for her daughter pleaded not guilty to child endangerment, distribution of drugs and theft charges.

On Monday, Leatha Slauson, 30, of Atlantic entered a written plea of not guilty.

Police say Slauson told the community her 5-year-old daughter had cancer and collected donations.

Authorities say she inserted a feeding tube into her 5-year-old daughter and injected her with cancer drugs she didn't need.

Monday, the judge denied her request for a bond review, saying that she poses a risk to the community.

Slauson is being held on a $35,000 cash-only bond. Her trial is set for Nov. 12.
