CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

Coralville Police are investigating an incident where a car drove through a Casey's General Store Sunday morning.

Police say they received the call just before 7 a.m. of a car that had plowed through the front entrance window at the Casey's on Commerce Dr. in Coralville.

"Really big shocker, a car bashing through," said Christina Flores. "I'm just glad I wasn't here to see it, I guess, it would've freaked me out really bad."

Flores was putting air in her tire when she noticed the damage.  She says it looks like something out of a movie.

The crash left glass shattered throughout the north end of the kitchen area along with scattered shelves and merchandise.

Police say the driver told them he was experiencing transmission problems.  However, police are still investigating to determine the exact cause.

There were no customers in the store at the time, but two store clerks were inside, they were not injured.

The driver received minor injuries and was treated on the scene. Police say there were multiple people in the car, but only the driver was hurt.

The damage was only to the north entrance of Casey's, so it didn't impact business in other areas of the store.

Managers tell us they're not sure how long the kitchen area of the store will remain closed.

Contractors were called out not long after and spend several hours boarding the window.

Police tell KWWL the store incurred roughly $30,000 to $50,000 in damage from the crash.
