UNI Homecoming Parade draws students, families

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - After seven years, the University of Northern Iowa Homecoming Parade returned to campus Saturday morning.

The parade kicked off at 11 a.m. on the UNI campus. Despite the rain showers, UNI students, Panther fans and eastern Iowa families lined the campus streets to watch the acts.

Decorated golf carts, the UNI Marching Band, local cheerleading squads and other groups participated in the Homecoming Parade. Students said they were happy to see the tradition brought back to life, and hope it remains as an annual Homecoming addition.

"I'm very excited to see it this year. Especially the marching band, it gets you going. The marching band woke me up this morning! I was like man, I'm excited!" Caleb Wheeler said, a sophomore at UNI.

The last Homecoming Parade for the Panthers was held in 2007.
