Dubuque rivalry: Hempstead upsets Senior, 17-6

DUBUQUE (KWWL) - In Dubuque, it was unbeaten Dubuque Senior taking on rival Dubuque Hempstead, which won its first game of the season last week.

Late in the first quarter, Rams inside the Mustangs 20, Lee Bonifas rolls out but is picked off by Brad Kramer in the endzone -- 0-0.

Early 2nd quarter, Mustangs set up for the field goal, but Fred Kalb hooks it to the right, no good. Score still 0-0.

Under a minute left in the first half, Mustang quarterback Bailey Paulsen drops it off to Matt Zenner, who scampers in from 29 yards out, putting the Mustangs on the board 7-0. That's the score at half.

Now 14-0, Mustangs under four minutes left in the third, Rams threatening, but Lee Bonifas is picked off on again by Peyton Imhof who returns it all the way to the house, but it's called back for an illegal block on the return.

Mustangs take the City title with the 17-6 victory over Senior.
