Cedar Rapids Police host prescription drop-off

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
The Cedar Rapids Police Dept. along with the Drug Enforcement Administration will host a prescription drug drop-off at the police station, located at 505 First St. SW, on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The drop-off will be held in the lobby of the police department. People can bring their unused prescription medications, which will then be collected and properly disposed of.

The Cedar Rapids Police Dept. also has a drug disposal box located at the police station, allowing the public to drop off unused medications throughout the year. The disposal box helps protect the quality of the city's water, and can also prevent prescription drug misuse and abuse.

The last drug drop-off event held at the Cedar Rapids Police Station was on April 26; it resulted in 52.4 pounds of drugs turned in.
