DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Community School District is holding its annual surplus auction on Thursday, Sept. 18, outside of the district's buildings and grounds office at 2300 Chaney Road. The auction will take place at 4 p.m. and is open to the public.

This year's auction features a variety of items including: various tables, desks and chairs; book cases, file cabinets and metal wardrobes; audio speakers; pianos; science equipment; a kiln; many tools and shop equipment; an electric stove, Kitchen Aide mixer and other food equipment; a driver's education simulator; and a 1992 GMC step van.

Bill Burkhart is the manager of buildings and grounds for the Dubuque Community School District. He said all of the items that are featured in the office are nearing the end of their lives, but looking for a good home.

"Some of the bookcases people use at home, all of the preschool furniture that we no longer use people like in their home," said Burkhart.

Payments for all the items must be made the day of the auction via cash or check, with an ID required.

Funds raised from the auction benefit the Dubuque Community School District and allow for the no-longer used items to be reused instead of being disposed of.

Individuals requesting additional information about the auction can contact Hess & Johnson Auction Service at (563)583-0321.
