INDIANOLA (KWWL) -

Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) hosted his final Steak Fry as Senator Sunday.

The 37th annual event was hosted in Indianola, and was attended by many state Democrats, as well as Bill and Hillary Clinton. The tradition began with a few friends cooking steaks and discussing politics. It has now grown to include thousands of people.

Harkin was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1974. In 1984, he won the Senate seat he currently holds. He does not plan to run again. Democrat Bruce Braley and Republican Joni Ernst are running to replace Harkin.

The Clintons and other speakers at the Steak Fry honored Harking for his years of service. Mrs. Clinton also hinted at the possibility of a Presidential bid.
