Free CPR courses offered in Johnson County

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) - Johnson County emergency responders are offering free classes on CRP, AED, and chocking maneuver this Saturday.

The Johnson County EMS Association along with the Johnson County Ambulance Service will host free 30 minute hands-only courses starting at 8 a.m.

The classes will be held at the Johnson County Health and Human Services Building on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 855 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City, and will be held on a first come, first serve basis.

The free courses are part of a public outreach awareness campaign to help teach the general community the basics needed to help save a life until 911 emergency help arrives.

Organizers say research proves that every second counts when it comes to early intervention and increases the chance of survival.

There will be no certification cards issued, but free on site childcare will also be provided.
