OELWEIN (KWWL) -

A criminal complaint released on Tuesday says a Maynard man arrested after a manhunt in Oelwein is charged with attempted murder because he tried to run over officers with a vehicle.

Police say they tried to arrest 33-year-old Abel Quijas Jr. of Maynard on Thursday after he tried to deliver drugs to a home in Oelwein. Officers say Quijas Jr. resisted arrest, got into a vehicle against their orders and then tried to run them down with the vehicle.

Quijas is charged with one count of attempted murder involving a peace officer.
