Free car seat safety check offered by UI Children’s Hospital

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old.

Many times deaths and injuries can be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters, and seat belts.

Safety experts with University of Iowa Children's Hospital will be offering free child safety seat checks from 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, as part of Child Passenger Safety Week.

Trained technicians, including those with expertise in safety seats for children with special needs, will provide education and assistance with correct child safety seat installation.

The event will be at the Center for Disabilities and Development, 100 Hawkins Dr., Iowa City.
