ASBURY (KWWL) -

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a broken pipe caused a wastewater spill in Asbury on Monday.

The DNR says a pipe ruptured at around Noon Monday near Radford Road, sending about 200 gallons of untreated wastewater into a tributary of North Fork Catfish Creek.

City were able to divert most of the wastewater to another pumping station while repairs were made.

The area has been disinfected, but children and pets should be kept out of the creek for another 24 to 48 hours.
