Waterloo East loses to Des Moines Hoover, 49-14

Waterloo East hosted Des Moines Hoover for their home opener as both teams looked to notch their first win of the season.

The Huskies struck first as Brock Larsen connected with Bryan Gonzalez for a ten yard score, giving Hoover the 7-0 lead. The Trojans fought back with a Chase Pryor touchdown pass to Darren Scott, which bought Waterloo East within one point.

Midway through the 2nd quarter, Des Moines Hoover extended their lead with a 10-yard run by Cameron McIntosh.

The Trojans were able to tie it up at 14-14 later in the quarter with a Jibri Petroskie 25-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion.

However, the Huskies pulled away late in the 2nd quarter with two touchdowns in the last minute of the half.

Des Moines Hoover held onto the lead and won the game handily at a score of 49-14.
