School board member arrested for domestic abuse

CORALVILLE (KWWL) - A school board member with the Iowa City Community School District was arrested for domestic abuse over the weekend.

It was early Saturday morning, just after 1 o'clock when Coralville police say they were called out to 36-year old Tuyet Dorau's home on Wedgewood Place for a domestic dispute.

According to the police report, a witness saw Dorau attack a male victim while he was trying to stop her from hitting him, by holding her down.

Dorau allegedly hit the man with a clothes hanger and kicked him in the stomach leaving scratches and redness to his abdomen.

The report does not say who the witness or the alleged victim is, but on the Iowa City School District website, Dorau is married and has one child in the district.

Dorau was booked in the Johnson County Jail Saturday morning for domestic abuse assault and later released on a $1,000 cash bond.

Dorau was just re-elected on the school board last year.

She's been serving on the Iowa city school board since September 2009.

Her term ends in 2017

We tried getting in contact with Dorau, but we have not yet heard back.
