UPDATE: Cedar Rapids home total loss after fire

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department confirms a house in the 900 block of 9th Ave. SE is a total loss after initially catching fire Saturday night.

Battalion Chief Brian Gibson said the fire rekindled in the roof around 4:15 a.m. Sunday. He said the blaze was contained shortly thereafter.

Gibson said the man living in the home was injured in the fire and taken to a local hospital Saturday night; his condition is not yet being released. There was only the single occupant living in the home.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Stay with KWWL for further updates.
