Nashua-Plainfield wins triple overtime thriller over Denver

Posted: Updated:

Reece Reams scored in the third overtime as Nashua-Plainfield pulled off a thrilling victory taking down Denver 41, 33.

It was a back and forth game throughout. Reams opened the scoring with a 9 yard off tackle run for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Denver struck right back as Isaac Barrett took a sweep and zoomed past the defense as the game sat tied 7-7 going to the second.

The teams kept the scoring up before halftime. The Huskies' Zade McCall scored on a one yard run, but Nashua-Plainfield missed the ensuing extra point. Denver responded with a 4 yard Mitchell Siech touchdown, while Creed Krueger hit Mike Sparkman on a 5 yard strike to put the Cyclones up 20-13 at half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Nashua-Plainfield re-took the lead with touchdown runs from McCall and Reams. However, the 27-20 edge didn't hold up as Austin Schmidt returned the ensuing kick-off back for a score, which would eventually force the overtime.

The teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime, and both went scoreless in the second overtime until Reams' winning touchdown sealed it.
