Aplington-Parkersburg vs. Waterloo Columbus

Posted: Updated:
Aplington-Parkersburg opened the season losing 27-7 to arch rival Dike-New Hartford in the Ag-Bowl. While Waterloo Columbus also had a rough start to the season falling 32-0 to Independence in the first game under new head coach Brad Schmit.
Sailor pride out in full force with the student section creating a black out theme....which seemed to help their team in the beginning. The Sailors defense stuffed A-P's offense three straight plays forcing the Falcon's to punt.

The Sailors offense started clicking. Kyle McMahon finds Greg Glass down the middle for a first down. Two plays later McMahon's pass is picked off by number 15 Ross Cooper. Cooper would rumble his was down to the 36-yard line of the Sailors, a 40-yard interception.

Six plays later on a fourth and goal from the nine, A-P runs a wildcat and number 12, Zac Benning, takes it untouched down the middle for the touchdown. The extra point made it 7-zip Falcons.

The Sailor cheerleaders tried to put some more fight in their team, but unfortunately a couple of possessions later the Sailors tried running it and the ball would pop free and number 24 Tyler Duster would grab it in the air and take off 62-yards for the touchdown. 14-zero Aplington-Parkersburg at the end of the first quarter.

Sailors would be forced to punt in their opening possession of the second quarter.  A-P would take only six plays, and on a third and goal from the four, Duster would get his second T-D of the night running it around the right side.
The extra point would make it 21-zero Falcons.
Final score Falcons 42, Sailors 18.
