CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

A 17-year-old accused of stealing two cars, leaving the scene of a crash and robbery was arrested this weekend.

Daniel Ray Penticoff, 17, of Cedar Falls, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, a felony; carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and multiple traffic offenses, according to the Cedar Falls Police Department.

Police say the crime spree happened early Saturday morning.

The first victim told police he confronted Penticoff, who was allegedly trying to break into his vehicle. He said Penticoff threatened him with a gun before taking off in the victim's car.

Officers later heard about a hit and run crash at University Avenue and Holiday Road. Witnesses say the driver who caused the crash took off running towards the Hy-Vee store at College Square.

Police found Penticoff inside the store being confronted by an employee about something the teen was allegedly trying to steal.

Police say they found a gun on Penticoff. They also believe he stole two cars before the crime spree ended.

Penticoff is being held on an unspecified bond in the Black Hawk County Jail.
