IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A cycling event took on the bike paths across Iowa City on Sunday.

The GranGABLE event brought cyclists from all over the state in name off Dan Gable, former athlete and wrestling coach at the University of Iowa.

Cyclists could chose to ride either 25 miles, 60 miles, or a 100 mile bike ride.

Former Olympian and Coralville native Jason McCartney joined riders in the second annual event.

We caught up with one biker, he says it's all for Coach Gable

"A buddy of mine, Doug Anderson called, we wrestled for Gable, and he was like you want to come out and ride this with us, and we said sure we'll do it," said bicyclist Terry Lemon. "Even though we had the Hawkeye game and a lot of partying yesterday, we were still able to get out of bed this morning and get out here."

The event is a collaboration between the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Iowa Bicycle Coalition, and RAGBRAI.

Proceeds will benefit the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and Hawkeye Wrestling Club
