CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids police officer headed to a call was involved in a head-on crash Sunday afternoon.  The Iowa State Patrol says the crash happened around 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Blairs Ferry Road and C Avenue.  They say Officer Steven Yardley was headed to a report of an assault with injury when a minivan driven by 35-year-old Deanna Lipcamon of Cedar Rapids swerved into the turning lane to avoid stopped traffic.  Lipcamon's mini-van then hit the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Yardley head on.  Both were taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital with minor injuries.  The State Patrol says Yardley's vehicle had its lights and siren on at the time of the crash.  The crash is still under investigation.
