IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The Hawkeyes got off to an early start with a touchdown within minutes of the game beginning.

The Panthers had to settle with a field goal after a tough penalty denied their would-be touchdown.

However, shortly after their forced field goal the Panthers then drove down the field to score a touchdown of their own to end the first quarter with a lead over the Hawks at 10-7.

The Hawks then kicked it in high gear and responded to the Panthers touchdown with one of their own and took the lead again 14-10.

Having trouble capitalizing on a great pass, the Panthers had to kick another field goal to come close to tying the Hawks at 14-13.

Right before halftime, the Hawks padded their lead to 17-14 to end the first half of the game.

The Panthers will have possession of the ball at the beginning of the second half at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
