Independence got a great night from senior running back, Chase Straw. Straw, also a great wrestling for the Mustangs, ran for two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass from Quarterback, Nick Holt, as the Mustangs beat Columbus for the second straight year.

Independence too the 1st quarter lead on a Mark Thompson field goal and led 11-0 at half, following a touchdown run from Straw, on which he broke several tackles.

There was no scoring in the 3rd quarter. Columbus could not get its offense going, while the Mustangs scored three times in the final period.

Columbus plays host to Aplington-Parkersburg next Friday night.
