Dons Begin a New Era

Posted: Updated:
GILBERTVILLE (KWWL) -

Don Bosco has lost several key players from last year's perfect 14 and 0 season including all-everything Quarterback Jake Hogan. The Dons began a new era against Midland.

The Don Bosco Dons take the field looking to duplicate the 2013 season with more than 40 boys out this year.

Senior Mason Svoboda takes over the quarterback spot this season and the first play of the game hits his stride for a 13-yard pickup.

Four plays later TJ Even takes the ball from Svoboda and puts the burners on for a nice 40-yard pick-up, but the play is called back for holding.

Four plays later and two more penalties the Dons are forced to punt.

The Midland Eagles take over but could not get their engine going in the first quarter either. Quarterback Madison Gravel ends up being sacked by a host of Dons.

The first quarter ends in a zero-zero tie.

The second quarter the Dons looked to cleanup their play. Second down and 10 from the 28 and Svoboda takes the ball around the left side and does not go down until he picks up 13-yards.

The next play is a very nice miss direction call and number 11 Damien Sawvel takes the ball down the right side and takes off....all the way down to pay dirt...41-yards for the touchdown.

No extra point as Svoboda runs it right up the gut for the two point conversion and the Dons lead eight-zero.

The Eagles could not mount a significant threat and the score remained eight to zero Dons at the half.

In the second half the Dons run away from the Eagles...38 to 0 as the final.
