WAVERLY (KWWL) - Dmitri Vorobiev will present “What Do We Listen for in Music?” during the Keep on Learning community education series at Wartburg College starting Sept. 4.

Vorobiev, assistant professor of piano at University of Northern Iowa, will discuss the history of performing classical music and various performing styles. By the end of the class, Vorobiev wants listeners to be able to articulate how a performance impacted them and appreciate the sound qualities of particular artists.

Vorobiev gained international attention in 1994 by winning the Casagrande International Piano Competition in Italy. In 2000, he placed first at the UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa.

The first class of each session is free; a $30 fee is due at the second class.
