Cedar Valley Hospice holds 3rd annual butterfly release

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - Cedar Valley Hospice will host its Release and Remember butterfly fundraising event on Sept. 7 from 1-3 p.m. at the Waterloo RiverLoop Amphitheatre.

Last year, over 700 guests came to celebrate loved ones with the release of 1,000 live monarch butterflies by the Cedar River.

Organizers say the event allows people to not only remember, but celebrate the lives of loved ones in a very special way.

“We encourage you to take part and experience this expression of love by supporting one or a number of butterflies as a celebration of someone you love,” said Cedar Valley Hospice Development Director Chris Olds.

For each memorial or honorary gift of $25, a butterfly will be released. In turn, the donor supporting a butterfly will receive a keepsake certificate as a reminder of the day.

To complete and mail in your registration form, visit www.cvhospice.org or call at 319-272-2002.

Cedar Valley Hospice is a not-for-profit, multi-service agency, providing comprehensive palliative and end-of-life care to terminally-ill individuals, support for patients' families, and services to those who grieve.
