WATERLOO (KWWL) - Waterloo Police may never know how Dennis Washburn, 69, of Waterloo died.

Family members believe the veteran was beaten up and left for dead early in the morning on Memorial Day, but on Tuesday the state medical examiner ruled the cause of his death as "undetermined."

Waterloo Police Lt. Michael McNamee said the results are not very satisfying.

He said it's frustrating they can't determine what caused his injuries.

He said the case will remain open but inactive unless someone comes forward with information.

He encourages anyone with information to call police or leave an anonymous tip with Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers: 855-300-TIPS (8477)
