UPDATE: 1 injured after I-380 morning crash

JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

One person was taken to the hospital following a two vehicle crash Tuesday morning on I-380.

Chris Troendle, 48, of Swisher was driving southbound on I-380 in the left lane and was slowing down due to traffic.

A semi, driven by Gilbert Pewe, Jr., 67, attempted to merge into the left lane when he rear ended the car driven by Troendle.

The semi veered to the left and rolled into the median.

Pewe Jr. was air lifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The extent of his injuries have not been released.

Troendle was not injured in the crash.

Traffic is moving again on I-380 after a crash diverted morning commuters.

A crash involving at least a semi and a car closed traffic between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City around 8 a.m. Southbound traffic was diverted to 965 at the Swisher exit.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating and is not releasing any more information at this time.
