A motorcyclist who led Bremer County authorities on a chase at speeds more than 130 m.p.h. was injured Friday morning after crashing into a Tripoli police car.

Detective Dave MacDonald says a Bremer County deputy tried to stop a motorcycle that was clocked at 82 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone at around 10:47 a.m. Friday on Highway 3 at Timber Avenue. The deputy says the driver refused to stop and reached speeds of more that 130 m.p.h.

The motorcyclist, 20-year-old Alexander Buss of Tripoli, continued on, turning north onto V-56 and then west on C-33 before crashing into a Tripoli police car at the intersection of C-33 and Sable Avenue. The officer in the squad car was 35-year-old Daniel Banks of Tripoli.

MacDonald says Buss was injured but is expected to survive.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash and charges are expected.
