NEW: Mayor accused of sexual abuse bonded out of jail

OELWEIN (KWWL) - Oelwein mayor Jason Manus, accused of sexually abusing children, has bonded out of jail.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office confirms Manus posted bond Wednesday.

Manus is facing five charges of sexual abuse against two young girls. According to the criminal complaint, the alleged abuse happened in July 2010.

In both reported cases, the victims said they were scared for their lives and that Manus threatened them. Their identities are not being released, and no-contact orders have been filed.

Manus is still listed as Oelwein's mayor.
