Quick and easy toast toppers

Toast is a quick, easy, economical, nutritious and kid-friendly breakfast.

Adding toppings to the toast will elevate classic breakfast staple to a new level. Plus, kids who eat breakfast are more likely to have higher test scores in school, concentrate better with problem-solving skills and have healthier body weights.

Try these recipes for a twist to your morning toast:

Ricotta, Honey & Cinnamon Toast

All You Need:

  • 1 slice whole great bread, toasted
  • 2 tbsp. ricotta cheese
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • Sprinkle of ground cinnamon

All you do:

  • Spread toasted bread with ricotta cheese. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Apple & Cheddar on Raisin Toast

All you need:

  • 1 slice Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Raisin Swirl bread, toasted
  • 1 tsp. apricot preserves
  • 5 thin slices Granny Smith apple
  • 2 tbsp. shredded sharp cheddar cheese

All you do:

  • Spread toasted bread with a thin layer of apricot preserves. Arrange apple slices evenly over top and sprinkle with cheese.

  • Place in a toaster oven or under a broiler just until cheese melts.

Peanut Butter & Grape Toast

All you need:

  • 1 slice whole-grain bread, toasted
  • 2 tbsp. natural peanut butter (or any variety of nut butter)
  • 1/2 cup halved red grapes

All you do:

  • Spread toast with nut butter.
  • Top with sliced grapes.

Avocado, Tomato & Feta Toast

All you need:

  • 1 slice whole-grain bread, toasted
  • 1/2 ripe avocado, mashed
  • 2 slices ripe tomato
  • 1 tbsp. crumbled feta cheese

All you do:

  • Spread toast with mashed avocado
  • Top with tomato slices and sprinkle with feta cheese


All you need:

  • 2 tbsp. nonfat refried beans
  • 1 slice whole-grain bread, toasted
  • 1 tbsp. prepared salsa
  • 1 tbsp. shredded cheese.

All you do:

  • Spread beans on toast
  • Top with salsa and cheese
  • Microwave on high until cheese is melted and beans are hot, about 45 seconds
