Former UNI Panther Ali Farokhmanesh headed to Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KWWL) -

Former UNI Panther basketball player Ali Farokhmanesh is headed back to the Midwest, but this time in red.

Farokhmanesh, who's best known for a buzzer-beater to advance UNI to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2010 NCAA tournament, will join the University of Nebraska as a graduate assistant manager.

The famous last-second shot in the NCAA tournament put Northern Iowa in the national spotlight and also earned the team recognition at the 2010 ESPY Awards.

After graduating from Northern Iowa, Farokhmanesh went overseas to play basketball in Europe.
