Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids raises $160k through Fish-O-Rama

Posted: Updated:

The Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids raised a record of more than $160,000 this year through its annual Fish-O-Rama event.

The fundraiser took place Aug. 2 and 3 at Robbins Lake and was the most successful Fish-O-Rama in the event's 12 years, according to a news release.

Nearly 1,450 people attended, though nobody caught the winning fish tagged for the Toyota Tundra truck.

Fish-O-Rama is one of the Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids' largest annual fundraisers. It enables the club to provide a variety of programs for the 300 kids who attend the club every day.

"We are thrilled to have had such a successful event!" Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids executive director John Tursi said. "We appreciate the support of all of our event sponsors as well as the community members, especially those who come every year to fish with family and friends and support our community's youth."
