Free round of golf for all Iowa veterans in Linn County

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Cedar Rapids is offering all Iowa veterans a free round of golf from Aug, 25-Sept. 1 at Ellis, Gardner and Twin Pines Golf Courses as part of the first ever Patriot Golf Week.

All active duty and honorably discharged veterans, retired National Guard and reserves are eligible to participate in the event.

“This is a first year event, so we weren’t sure what kind of response we would get from our local veterans,” said Cedar Rapids Councilperson Ann Poe, who is spearheading the event.

“We want as many veterans as possible to benefit from this program, so we are now inviting all Iowa veterans to enjoy a free round of golf as a thank you for their service.”

Veterans can pick up a certificate for their round of golf at the Linn County Veterans Administration office. After getting a certificate, veterans can pick the golf course and call to reserve a tee time.

Twelve sponsors total donated $13,500 to the city to offset the cost of the golf rounds.
