Today --the state's four division one head basketball coaches teaming up for an important cause..

Iowa's Fran McCaffery, Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg, UNI's Ben Jacobson and Drake's Ray Giacoletti all came together off the basketball court to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The Coaches vs Cancer Charity Golf Classic was held today at the Wakonda Golf Club in Des Moines.

For Hawkeye head coach Fran McCaffery this year's event took on a different meaning..with his 13 year-old son Pat McCaffery battling thyroid cancer--Fran McCaffery has a great appreciation for organizations like the American Cancer Society.

"When you look at Patrick you see how he was treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the success that we had with that treatment and the experience we had. To know that when you first here the word that your 13-year-old son has cancerthat it's in fact not a death sentence it's treatable."
Mccaffery who lost both of his parents to cancer has been active in Coaches vs. Cancer and American Cancer Society's Relay for Life for many years.
