CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids man is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to making and selling fake DVDs and CDs.

Peter Deegan from the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 45-year-old Steven Brown pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of copyright infringement.

Deegan says Brown admitted to producing and selling more than 1,500 counterfeit DVDs and nearly 500 counterfeit CDs between December 2012 and February 2013. The total retail value is estimated at more than $25,000.

Brown, who will remain free until sentencing, faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, $100 in special assessments and three years of supervised release.
