Floyd County Attorney dies

Posted: Updated:
CHARLES CITY (KWWL) -

The Office of the Floyd County Attorney announced on Monday that Floyd County Attorney Normand Klemesrud died on Sunday.

Todd Prichard, Assistant Floyd County attorney, says Klemesrud died unexpectedly in Mason City. He was 67-years-old.

Prichard says county work will continue through this situation per Iowa Code. Normal day-to-day operations will continue until action is taken by the Floyd County Board of Supervisors.

Klemesrud was elected in 1992, but resigned two years later to return to private practice. He then was appointed back into office in early 2010 when Jesse Marzen's law license was suspended because of an ethics violation.

Klemesrud was elected again in November 2010, but announced earlier this year that he would not seek re-election.
