Police: Counterfeit 20s circulating in Dubuque

DUBUQUE (KWWL) - Dubuque police say that a number of counterfeit $20 bills have been circulating in the area, and there may be more, so they're asking people to closely check money to find any potentially counterfeit money.

They say the bills look authentic, but feel slightly thicker than legitimate currency; the fake bills also will not pass a counterfeit pen test and don't have a visible denomination strip when they're held up to light.

So far two serial numbers have been identified: JB19936678F and JG46657565C; however, there can be other numbers used.   

Anyone who thinks they've found fake money or has any information is asked to call police.
