PEOSTA (KWWL) - A utility pole impaled the entire length of a Peosta driver's vehicle after she failed to stop in time for a utility truck.

Hanna Kobusch, 16, of Peosta was cited for failure to have control after her 2006 Chevy Suburban allegedly ran into the back of an Alliant Energy utility truck driven by Daniel Kuhle, 56, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, according to the Dubuque Police Department.

Police and Dubuque Fire responded to JFK Road and Dodge at 8:19 a.m. Thursday for a two-vehicle crash.

Officials say the Alliant truck was eastbound on Dodge and stopped at the red light on JFK Road. Kuhle was apparently hauling a utility pole that extended beyond the back of the truck by 20 feet.

Kobusch was also eastbound and had just merged into the same lane as the truck but failed to see the pole extended behind, according to officials.

The pole impaled her entire vehicle on the passenger's side, where a 12-year-old received minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, according to officials. Neither Kobusch nor Kuhle were injured.

Kobusch's vehicle sustained $5,000 in damage. The Alliant truck sustained no damage.
