Teachers asked to submit projects for chance at sharing $1M

Posted: Updated:

U.S. Cellular has announced it will donate $1 million to fund classroom projects through its "Calling All Teachers" program.

Public school teachers in Iowa are encouraged to submit their projects for consideration online at DonorsChoose.org.

Last year, U.S. Cellular handed out $500,000 toward educational materials for improved classroom experiences.

The company funded 120 Iowa projects worth $70,820.

Interested public school teachers who teach a grade between kindergarten and 12th grade need to register online at DonorsChoose.org and affiliate as a U.S. Cellular teacher.

Teachers can post their projects on the site through Sept. 21 for potential funding.

Selected projects will be announced in October.

U.S. Cellular has funded more than 4,500 classroom projects through DonorsChoose.org.

Projects include technology tools, art equipment and science experiments.
