House catches fire in Waterloo Friday morning

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Early Friday morning, a house caught on fire near the corner of Iowa and Almond Streets in Waterloo.

The Black Hawk Co. Sheriff's Office says it received the call just before 6 a.m. Friday. 

Waterloo Fire Dept. crews battles flames and smoke, climbing on the roof to contain the blaze of a unoccupied home that was to be renovated.

The fire department added that no one was at the house at the time and that the fire extended to the attic and completely destroyed the house. 

The Waterloo Police Dept. was also on scene Friday morning, blocking off streets in the immediate area as crews worked to extinguish the fire. 

As of roughly 8:30 a.m. Friday, the Waterloo Fire Department said the cause of the fire was unknown, and the case is under investigation.
