WATERLOO (KWWL) -

One of the two major candidates in the race for U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin's seat has agreed to a debate in the next several weeks to be broadcast on KWWL.

U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, a Democrat running for U.S. Senate, agreed Thursday to participate in a televised debate hosted by KWWL in late August or September, according to Braley's campaign.

His opponent, State Sen. Joni Ernst, a Republican, has not announced whether she'll participate. Once she does, the exact date will be set for the debate.

Braley also announced he would be participating in a televised KCAU debate during the week of Oct. 6 in Sioux City and a televised Iowa Public Television debate Oct. 23 in Perry.
