MANCHESTER (KWWL) -

Manchester Police have arrested a man who they believe is behind a string of burglaries in town.

Thomas Jerome Smith III, 35, of Manchester, was arrested on Wednesday.

He faces charges of burglary, attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a release issued by Manchester Police Chief James Hauschild, Smith's arrest is the result of a two-month long investigation into a series of burglaries that happened in Manchester.

Hauschild states the police department received two complaints on May 26 about businesses being broken into.

According to police, the first complaint was called in from the Eagles Club.

Police state they were informed the business had been broken into and items were missing from the establishment.

Police state the second complaint was called in from Widner Drug when someone damaged the alarm system.

They do not believe there was any forced entry into the establishment.

Additionally, Hauschild said the police department received two other burglary complaints on Aug. 4.

According to a release, the first complaint was received from Sunset Restaurant after the business was broken into and items were damaged and stolen from the establishment.

Hauschild said the second complaint was received from the Blue Collar bar after the business had been broken into and items were damaged and missing from inside the establishment.
