Officer-involved shooting in Davenport leaves one person dead

DAVENPORT (KWWL) -

According to the Davenport Police Department, an officer-involved shooting took place late Wednesday night and left one person dead.

Officers were called to 602 W. Ninth St. in Davenport around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on report of one person threatening another person with a knife. When they arrived on scene, officers say that person refused to listen to commands, and then officers were confronted by the individual with the knife.

Both officers then discharged their weapons; the individual was taken to Genesis East Medical Center and died as a result of injuries.

The Davenport Police Department is not releasing the names of the two officers involved in the incident, but say they have been placed on administrative leave.

The name of the person who died is also not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
