University of Dubuque seeking volunteer ushers

Posted: Updated:

The University of Dubuque is seeking volunteer ushers for its 2014-15 performing arts season at the Heritage Center.

People wanting to volunteer are required to attend an orientation and training course. One is coming up on Monday, Aug. 18, and another is on Thursday, Aug. 21. Both of those sessions are at 6 p.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall, which is the Heritage Center's main auditorium.

The University of Dubuque is looking for volunteer ushers who are enthusiastic and customer service-oriented team players. Ushers must be at least 18 years old and able to climb stairs and stand for an extended period of time, as well as adhere to a dress code.

Most events at the Heritage Center are held in the evenings and/or on weekends. Hours vary with each show. There are also some school performances during the day and some matinees.

The new performing arts season begins in September in the 1,000-seat John and Alice Butler Hall and the 250-seat Babka Theatre. Ushers guide patrons to their seats, hand out programs, answer questions and create a safe and welcoming live performance environment.

For more information, people may contact the Victoria Molle, the Heritage Center's director of audience services, at 563.589.3432 or
