DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The Freedom Bell at the 2014 Iowa State Fair rings to honor those have or is serving in the Armed Forces.

Fair goers are invited to ring the Freedom Bell August 9th, 10th and 11th as a way to honor family members or friends who serve our country, or to simply thank those in the Armed Forces.

The bell will be located in front of the Iowa State Fair Administration Building.

The Freedom Bell was cast on June 6, 2013 in bronze with steel from the twin towers as a symbol of support for America's Armed Forces.

The bell features the official emblems of each branch of the military and the inscription, "HONORING OUR ARMED FORCES PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE."

The Bell has been a part of many ceremonies including Flag Day at Independence Hall, the 12th anniversary of 9/11 in New York, Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery, Remembrance Day at Pearl Harbor and the Indy 500. Over 1,000,000 people have now seen or rung the Bell.
