LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

One person was taken to the hospital after he was injured in a car crash in rural Linn County.

It happened at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, near where Secrist Road meets Campbell Road.

Authorities arrived on scene to find a silver Ford Explorer sitting in the roadway with severe front-end damage. There was also a blue Hyundai Elantra in the ditch with severe front and driver-side damage.

Authorities believe 24-year-old Michael Eash of Mt Vernon was driving the Explorer, and 58-year-old David Weber, also of Mt Vernon, was driving the Hyundai.

Weber was taken to the hospital, and is expected to survive. Eash declined treatment.

Weber had a small dog with him that was killed in the collision.

Eash has been charged with failure to maintain control. The accident is under investigation.
